For our STEM challenge this week, we revisited the NED video on being an Upstander. You can view it here: UPstander Video. Afterwards, we looked at various objects (a bottle, a cup, a timer, an easel and some playing cards) and thought about how were standing. How do these objects stand up? The children had time to think, discuss and share their thinking with a partner and with the whole group, one object at a time. Their observation, thinking, and hypotheses was just fantastic! They were then presented with the challenge of making their cardboard Upstanders (characters from the video) stand up. You can some ideas of how the challenge was solved below.
